Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 26, 2025

Reel Editor ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Reel Editor application and website.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information (via Google Sign-In): When you log in with Google, we receive your Google account ID, name, email address, and profile picture. We use your Google account ID solely to identify your account and keep your data isolated from other users.

Video Content: Videos and clips you upload to Reel Editor are stored on our server and associated with your account. Processed output reels are also stored in your personal account space.

Platform Connection Tokens: If you connect Instagram or YouTube, we store OAuth access tokens (encrypted at rest) that allow us to publish content on your behalf. We do not store your passwords.

Usage Data: We may log basic server-side events (e.g., errors, request timestamps) for debugging purposes. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking scripts.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

3. Google Data

Reel Editor uses Google OAuth for authentication and the YouTube Data API v3 for publishing. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We request the following Google scopes:

YouTube tokens are stored only on our server and used exclusively to perform uploads you explicitly initiate. You can disconnect YouTube at any time from the Settings page, which immediately deletes the stored token.

4. Instagram / Facebook Data

If you connect Instagram, we use the Instagram Graph API via Facebook Login. We request the following permissions:

We store your Instagram access token and Instagram user ID on our server, used only when you initiate a publish action. You can disconnect Instagram at any time from Settings, which deletes the stored token.

We do not access, read, or store your Instagram feed, followers, messages, or any other Instagram content beyond what is necessary to publish the reels you create.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on a server that you or the operator controls. Access tokens are stored in per-user directories with restricted file system permissions. Session cookies use an encrypted secret key.

Video files are not transmitted to any third-party cloud service — all processing happens on the Reel Editor server using FFmpeg.

While we implement reasonable security measures, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

6. Data Retention

Your video uploads, processed reels, and account settings are retained as long as your account exists. OAuth tokens are retained until you disconnect the platform or delete your account.

To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at [email protected].

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

8. Children's Privacy

Reel Editor is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Reel Editor after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
